PPMLogo16B9.png

Early Friday

A quiet fp1 in Mexico with Leclerc taking first with a 1:18.380 being just a bit faster than Kimi Antonelli by just 1 tenth. At third Hulkenberg put in some early qualifying laps to test out the track's grip. A lot of drivers skipped out on the Friday morning session giving 9 rookies in total the chance to make some meters in update F1 tech. With every F1 driver being obliged to give up 2 practice seasons a year.

These rookies being:

Arvid Lindblad (Red Bull)

Paul Aron (Alpine)

Antonio Fuoco (Ferrari)

Ayumu Iwasa (Racing Bulls)

Luke Browning (Williams)

Ryo Hirakawa (Haas)

Jak Crawford (Aston Martin)
Frederik Vesti (Mercedes)

Pato O’Ward (McLaren)

Redbull junior Arvid Lindblad taking over Max Verstappen's RB21 putting in the fastest time of the Rookies securing 6th, with team mate Yuki Tsunoda finishing 8. McLaren started off slow but steady, Piastri going into the weekend as the championship leader testing out the long runs, taking 4th. Lando Norris his McLaren being driven by Pato O’Ward making his first kilometers in 2025 machinery finishing 14th. The 2024 24hr of Le Mans winner Antonio Fuoco taking over Lewis Hamilton's seat, only managing p20 but at least getting to grip with the modern f1 cars

We’re interested in what the rest of the weekend will bring with all the teams having to adapt to the thinner air. With the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez at 2250 meters above sea level the air is a lot thinner, which makes cooling the car and keeping tires at the ideal temperature a lot more difficult than it usually already is.
